Blackstar Systems ("Blackstar," "we," "us," or "our") operates Acquire, a lead tracking and outbound sales application. This Privacy Policy describes how Acquire collects, uses, stores, and shares information in connection with your use of the application and its features, including Google Maps-powered lead discovery, third-party data enrichment, and Gmail-integrated bulk email campaigns.

By using Acquire, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope and Data Processing Roles

Blackstar operates Acquire as a platform tool for sales professionals and businesses. In this context:

Blackstar acts as a data processor for lead contact data you import, collect, or manage through the application.
You (the account holder) are the data controller and are solely responsible for how you collect, use, and communicate with leads.
For account and usage data, Blackstar acts as the data controller.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you register for Acquire, we collect:

Name and email address
Login credentials and authentication metadata
Billing and subscription information (processed by third-party payment providers)
Account configuration and preferences

2.2 Lead and Contact Data

Acquire enables you to build and manage lists of business leads. Lead data collected or stored within the application may include:

Business names, addresses, and phone numbers sourced via the Google Maps API
Contact names, email addresses, and other business details obtained through third-party enrichment services you connect or enable
Notes, tags, status fields, and custom data you manually enter
Email addresses used as recipients for outbound campaigns

You are responsible for ensuring you have a lawful basis to collect and use this contact information, including compliance with applicable anti-spam laws such as CAN-SPAM, CASL, and GDPR where applicable.

2.3 Gmail Integration Data

Acquire integrates with the Gmail API to enable bulk email campaigns sent from your connected Google account. When you connect your Gmail account, Acquire may access:

Your Gmail address and OAuth authentication credentials (stored securely and never shared)
Email content you compose within Acquire for outbound campaigns
Send status, delivery metadata, and campaign logs associated with emails sent through your account

Acquire does not read, index, or store your existing Gmail inbox, sent mail, or any emails unrelated to campaigns initiated within the application.

Use of the Gmail API is governed by Google's API Services User Data Policy. Your Gmail credentials are used solely to send emails on your behalf as directed by you within Acquire.

2.4 Email Campaign Data

For each email campaign you create and send, Acquire logs:

Campaign name, subject line, and message body
Recipient list and send timestamps
Delivery status returned by the Gmail API
Open and click tracking data, if tracking features are enabled
Opt-out and unsubscribe events

2.5 Google Maps API Data

Acquire uses the Google Maps API to search for businesses and leads by zip code and industry niche. This process involves:

Transmitting your search parameters (zip code, niche keywords) to Google's API
Receiving and storing returned business listings and location data within your account

Your use of Google Maps-sourced data is subject to the Google Maps Platform Terms of Service. You may not use this data in ways that violate those terms.

2.6 Third-Party Enrichment Data

If you enable or connect third-party data enrichment tools within Acquire, those tools may provide additional contact information such as email addresses, phone numbers, social media profiles, or firmographic data. You are responsible for:

Reviewing and complying with the terms of service of any enrichment provider you connect
Ensuring enriched contact data is accurate and used lawfully
Providing required notices to individuals whose data is enriched

2.7 Usage and Technical Data

IP addresses and device information
Browser type and operating system
In-app activity logs and feature usage patterns
Error states and performance diagnostics

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

Operate, maintain, and improve the Acquire platform
Process lead searches via the Google Maps API on your behalf
Facilitate Gmail API connections and send bulk emails as directed by you
Log and display campaign history, send status, and analytics
Store and organize lead and contact data within your account
Authenticate users and secure account access
Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements

4. How We Share Information

4.1 Google APIs

Acquire transmits data to Google through the Maps API (for lead searches) and the Gmail API (for sending emails). This data is governed by Google's privacy policies and API terms.

4.2 Third-Party Enrichment Providers

If you configure enrichment integrations, Acquire may transmit lead identifiers or search parameters to those providers to retrieve additional contact data. You control which enrichment tools are connected to your account.

4.3 Service Providers

We engage third-party vendors for hosting, infrastructure, analytics, and support. These providers are contractually obligated to process data only as directed and to maintain appropriate security standards.

4.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from authorities, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights and safety of Blackstar, our users, or others.

4.5 Business Transactions

In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred. We will notify you before data becomes subject to materially different privacy practices.

4.6 No Sale of Personal Data

We do not sell lead contact data or personal information to third parties.

5. Lead Contact Data — Your Responsibilities

Because Acquire is a tool you use to manage leads and contact prospects, you bear sole responsibility for:

Ensuring you have a lawful basis and, where required, explicit consent to email each contact on your list
Complying with anti-spam laws (CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR, and others applicable to your jurisdiction and your recipients' locations)
Including required disclosures such as your physical mailing address and an unsubscribe mechanism in all commercial emails
Honoring unsubscribe requests promptly
Complying with Google Maps Platform Terms of Service regarding how lead data sourced from the API may be used and stored
Complying with the terms of any third-party enrichment provider you connect

Blackstar is not responsible for your outbound email practices or your compliance with applicable law.

6. Email Sending & Logging

When you send a campaign through Acquire using the Gmail integration:

Emails are sent via your authenticated Google account — Blackstar does not operate its own email sending infrastructure for campaigns
Campaign logs (recipients, send time, subject, delivery status) are stored in your Acquire account for tracking and auditing purposes
Acquire does not access, read, or store email content beyond what you create within the application
You are subject to Gmail's sending limits and policies in addition to Acquire's platform terms

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and campaign data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to fulfill business and legal obligations. You may delete leads, campaigns, or your entire account at any time through the application. Following account deletion, we will delete your data in accordance with our standard retention schedules unless longer retention is required by law.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your data, including encryption of stored credentials, access controls, and secure API authentication flows. However, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your own Google account and OAuth credentials.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ops@blackstar.systems with "Privacy Request" in the subject line.

For rights related to data that belongs to individuals in your lead lists (i.e., your prospects), those individuals should contact you directly, as you are the data controller for that information.

10. Children's Privacy

Acquire is intended for use by adults engaged in professional sales activities. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use of Acquire after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
